EXERCISE & NUTRITION FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Providing exercise sessions & nutrition information
designed for people with anxiety, depression and
social phobias
Any type of physical activity has been shown to improve your wellbeing by affecting chemical and hormonal balances within the body. There are other benefits too, from the sense of achievement in reaching your goals, whatever their size, to social contact with new people. But despite being told how good it is for us, the motivation to do something new when we are suffering from mental health issues can be overwhelming.

How do we help?
Here at Fighting Fit, we want to make it easy for people suffering from anxiety, depression and social phobias to access exercise in a way that makes them feel calm, empowered and confident. We're not like other gyms that expect you to turn up and exercise on your own. Our timetable of classes means you always have the expert instruction and support of our trainers, with the flexibility to choose a class that suits your lifestyle.

Classes for social phobias and anxiety
We offer exercise classes designed specifically for people with social phobias and anxiety. Classes are small in size and led by our friendly team who will make you feel confident and relaxed, held at times when the gym is quieter.

Nutritional advice
Just as exercise makes you feel better, eating the right foods will have a huge impact on mood and energy levels. Our head coach has a degree and post graduate certification in Nutrition, and can provide you with detailed plans to help you reach your goals, physically and mentally.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu
It might not be something you have considered, but there are many benefits to training in a martial art for mental as well as physical health. Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is a cerebral sport known as the 'chess of martial arts', and will work out your brain as well as your body. Our classes have a range of participants, from beginners to black belts, and our instructors will give you the guidance you need to progress safely and efficiently. You'll also see the benefits of contact with people in your class and building relationships with them, as you progress as a team through the curriculum together. Of course, martial arts training requires commitment and perseverance, but the accomplishment that comes from watching your skills grow is hugely beneficial.

The close social connections you make with the team are incredible. You do, quite literally, have to put your well-being in each others' hands. It is a level of trust which makes you open up to other people who you might never normally connect with, and is also really important at points when you might be tempted to shut yourself off from social contact.
